There are many filler substances on the market today. The differences among them involve the types of materials and how long they remain effective. The one common denominator is that none of the material is permanent. Typically, the effects from these substances last from three to four months. There is one product on the market today, Radiance, which the manufacturer claims lasts three to five years. This product is most effective for softening the nasolabial folds (the groove which stretches from the nose downward to the corner of the mouth). All the filler substances are injected with a fine needle in the office setting. Most patients report mild but temporary discomfort.
